Refined traditional tableware in Moustiers

Located in Moustiers Sainte-Marie, one of the most beautiful villages in France, Atelier Soleil is among the oldest and most authentic ceramic workshops in Provence. Discover its light and luminous faience earthenware, entirely handmade according to centuries-old techniques and traditions.

Plates, platters, vases, pitchers, mugs and cups: each piece is embossed, thrown on a potter’s wheel or molded by hand as it was done in the 17th century (watch the videos). Decoration is applied freehand on uncooked glaze.

A certificate of authenticity and quality is issued for each and every piece that is made by the Atelier Soleil, and the decorator who painted it always signs it. Everything is 100% made in Moustiers, which is known worldwide for the quality of its pottery since the 17th century.

Artists and inspiration

Each season, Franck Scherer, the Atelier’s master craftsman, creates new shapes and decorations; some are unique, others are custom-made for clients. The Atelier Soleil sometimes works with great artists on special collections. For instance, it partnered with the talented illustrator Florine Asch to conceive faience for the tables of Alain Ducasse’s La Bastide restaurant. It also launched a new collection with the Japanese artist Junko Miyoshi.

The creations of the Atelier Soleil also include the Ségriès collections, which have received numerous awards and seduced the most demanding clients, among them Tiffany, Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman in the United States; Takashimaya in Japan; Hermès, Artcurial and the Musée des Arts décoratifs in France (see other references).
